HERITAGE LEARNING JOURNEY: CANTONESE EDITION

Take a step back in time with a visit to Pat Wo Wui Kun (新加坡八和会馆), one of Singapore’s oldest clan associations, established in 1857.

Discover the rich history of this Cantonese clan and its deep connection to Cantonese opera, a treasured art form passed down through generations.

Learn about the traditions, costumes, and stories behind the opera from Mr. Gary Kong, a veteran artist with over 40 years of experience in the scene.

You’ll also get a chance to try out some basic Cantonese opera movements under his guidance — a rare and immersive experience into this vibrant cultural art.

A meaningful way to connect with Cantonese heritage and the legacy of performing arts in Singapore.
